"description":"This legacy groundwater report database includes over 23,000 entries dating from before 1930 to 2003 and representsing information about every county in Illinois. Items were originally filed by county and numbered sequentially. Follow-up correspondence, which may span many years and multiple documents, is filed with the original document. Correspondence was generally in response to a request for information from another state agency, municipal officer, engineer, water well driller, farmer, or landowner. ISGS groundwater staff worked closely with staff in the groundwater section of the Illinois State Water Survey (ISWS), usually providing joint responses to each request. The ISGS response provides hydrogeologic context and the ISWS response provides information on pumping and water quality.",
